One can access Corozal Town through the New River ferry (Pueblo Nuevo) and the distance is approximately 18 miles or approximately some 40 minutes (depending on traffic at the New River Ferry- a barge that carries vehicles/people across the New River from one side of the river bank to the other).
The Caribbean Sea is about 25 to 30 minute drive in a north direction and one can find one or two small restaurants in Cerros Peninsula and Orchid Bay. Also one can travel on the Progresso Lagoon on a small boat (18-24 feet) and can access the Sea through creeks and lagoon and can take approximately some 40 to 50 minute boat ride.
There are small shops in Progresso Village but one can do bi-weekly or monthly shopping in a larger town such as Orange Walk or Corozal Town.
